Mayor Joi’s Winter ‘26 Recap!
March 20, 2026
Happy First Day of Spring! Over the past few months, I have attended various events and also completed training for the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs. Here is a look at what I did in January and February:
-
Presented a Black History Month Proclamation highlighting 100 years of celebration.
-
I signed up for the Mayor’s Alliance to End Childhood Hunger. In the past, former Mayor McMahon signed a letter with PA Mayors to our PA congressional delegation, urging them to protect the SNAP program in budget and reconciliation negotiations. In Pennsylvania, the SNAP program helps more than 2 million people afford food.
-
Harrisburg Trip: I was invited by Madam Speaker Joanna McClinton to attend the Governor’s Budget Address to hear the plans of Governor Shapiro and how they affect local towns like Media Borough.
-
Completed PSAB (Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs) Training with new Borough Council Members on February 6th and 7th in Swarthmore, PA.
-
A Visit with local Girl Scouts at Media Borough Hall.
-
Visited the Lion Dance during Lunar New Year Celebrations held in Media.
-
I signed petitions for my congressional and state legislators for this year’s Primary elections.
-
I attended Governor Shapiro’s Black History Month Reception at the Governor’s Residence.
-
I joined community members and neighbors for the Media Fellowship House’s Black History Month Paint and Sip.
-
And a 2nd Snow Emergency Declaration. Fortunately, the weather wasn’t as frigid as January’s numerous below-freezing cold snaps.
